What people say about us

The home is very comfortable, calming and well-run. The staff are extremely good at their job, well trained and extremely friendly.

P.G. Son of resident

She [our mum] has been in Oakdale for eight weeks now. The care she receives is first class. She is treated with dignity and genuine kindness. Her room is always fresh and clean, and her clothing is always freshly laundered. Her emotional state has lifted, showing us lots of smiles and a sense of being settled, giving all of her family total peace of mind.

A.H. Son of resident

Every visit is warm and welcoming. Greeted well, manager and team are kind and caring. My friend is well cared for and happy. The home is very clean and always looks nice. My friend says she is happy.

Jane W. Friend of resident

The Oakdale Care Home took in my mother-in-law at short notice due to a traumatic experience in another home. The staff were extremely welcoming and went out of their way to make this respite experience a great one. The luxury accommodation and gardens are superb. The permanent residents seem at home and enjoy the activities, food and care.

J H, Daughter-in-law of Resident

Mum had a lovely time enjoying the company and activities. She loved her room and the home and enjoyed the view and gardens. The staff were very friendly and attentive and happy to give updates. We would definitely come again.

Joanne T, Daughter of Resident

I cannot praise the home and staff enough. Everyone was friendly, helpful and cheerful. My husband was cared for with love and kindness. He thought of it as home. I am so grateful he spent his last days within this happy environment.

Paula P, Wife of Resident

I was welcomed so warmly from the manager to care team. Such a warm friendly home, so welcoming, my friend looked so well and happy.

C S, Friend of Resident

As soon as [my husband] saw his room he said how lucky he was to have such a lovely good-sized bedroom and a large wet room. He was also very pleased with his large wall-mounted television. “I much appreciate all the care and attention that was given to him during his stay to make it a happy experience. In the afternoons there were activities which he enjoyed participating in. Whenever I visited him, he was happy.

M D, Wife of Resident

Always welcoming to visit. Staff friendly. Home is always decorated to a high standard e.g. Halloween, Remembrance Day, Christmas. The Remembrance Day was exceptional. The staff put in such an effort. The buffet was one of the best I have had!

S H, Friend of Resident

Oakdale has really good premises, feels welcoming with friendly and caring staff who look after my friend well. The whole atmosphere suggests the home is well-managed.. Overall it is a pleasure to visit Oakdale.

Lesley Brock

Home Manager at Oakdale Care Home

For the past 43 years, I have had the profound honour of working in the nursing and care profession. My path has been rich and varied, starting with my initial nurse training and time as a District Nurse, which gave me a deep appreciation for the people and communities I served.

This foundation inspired me to build and operate my own domiciliary care business, driven by a desire to provide compassionate, person-centred support. I have since had the privilege of managing both nursing and specialised Dementia care homes, always focusing on creating environments of safety, dignity, and warmth. My work has also involved a broader, strategic role, where I have established new domiciliary care agencies throughout the Southwest and have provided critical support to turn around struggling nursing homes.

Looking back, the most meaningful part of my work has been the people I have met and the lives I have been fortunate enough to be a part of. I hold a deep conviction that our role as carers is to be “everything & more” for our residents and their families, a belief that has been the guiding light of my entire career.

I’d like to invite all families to visit Oakdale Care Home and experience the friendly, compassionate atmosphere that makes it a special place to live and work.
